Sensor Lab
The Sensor Lab is an interactive time-series chart tool that lets you visualize raw sensor data across any time range you choose. Unlike the Journal — which is organized around program execution windows — the Sensor Lab is free-form. You pick one or more sensors, pick a time window, and the system draws the data as a chart you can zoom, pan, and inspect.
Layout
- Left sidebar — time mode, time range, sensor selection, export, and refresh
- Right main area — the interactive multi-axis chart
Time Mode Selector
Three tabs select how the time window is defined:
| Tab | Mode |
|---|---|
| Presets | Relative — “last N hours/days from now” |
| Day | Single day — full 24-hour span of a chosen date |
| Range | Custom — you choose start and end dates |
Presets Mode
| Option | Time window |
|---|---|
| Last 1 hour | 1h back from now |
| Last 6 hours (default) | 6h back from now |
| Last 12 hours | 12h back from now |
| Last 24 hours | 24h back from now |
| Last 48 hours | 48h back from now |
| Last 7 days | 7 days back from now |
Day Mode
Select any past date. If you select today, the time window ends at the current moment.
Range Mode
Click a start date, then an end date. The window spans from the start of the first day to the end of the last day.
Resolution Selector
Appears only when the selected time window is 24 hours or shorter:
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Balanced | Backend automatically aggregates readings. Faster, cleaner chart. Recommended for most uses. |
| High-Res | Returns every recorded reading, no aggregation. Best for debugging, validating calibration, or inspecting brief anomalies. |
Sensor Multi-Select
Click the filter button to open a popover listing all available sensors. Toggle sensors on/off to add or remove them from the chart.
Only devices of type SENSOR appear here — actuators are excluded.
Unit conversion: When data is fetched, values are automatically converted from storage unit to your configured display unit (from Settings → Units & Standards).
Export
Downloads the currently selected sensor data as a CSV file.
- Always exports at raw resolution (all recorded readings regardless of Resolution selector)
- File is named automatically:
sensor_data_YYYYMMDD_to_YYYYMMDD.csv
The Multi-Axis Chart
Built with Apache ECharts. Supports multiple sensors on independent Y-axes — each sensor gets its own scale (critical because pH is 0–14 but volume might be 0–500 L).
Axes
- X axis — time, formatted as
HH:mm - Y axes — one per sensor, alternating left/right. Each axis is colored to match its sensor
Legend
Interactive — clicking a sensor name in the legend hides or shows that series without removing it from the selection.
Zoom and Pan
| Mechanism | How to use |
|---|---|
| Slider | Drag handles to zoom. Drag filled area to pan. |
| Scroll zoom | Hold and scroll with the mouse wheel over the chart |
Tooltip
Hover anywhere to see a crosshair tooltip with the exact values of all visible sensors at that moment.
Practical Examples
Checking sensor consistency after calibration: Select the sensor, Presets → Last 1 hour, Resolution → High-Res. Every reading appears for inspection.
Comparing pH and EC over a growth week: Select both pH and EC sensors, Range mode, Monday to Sunday. Two lines on separate axes.
Reviewing yesterday’s tank fill: Day mode, pick yesterday, select the volume/level sensor. See fill rate, rate of increase, where it leveled off.
Exporting data for a report: Configure any time range + sensors, click Export. Raw CSV downloads immediately.
